Nthateng Sethemane, a photographer and entrepreneur, presented her first solo exhibition in Polokwane at the Hugh Exton Photographic Museum, with Amos Letsoalo as the curator, on 26 October 2023. This marked a historic moment as she became the first woman to exhibit her work at the museum since 1986. The exhibition received backing from Business and Arts South Africa, The Department of Sport, Arts & Culture, and The Polokwane Municipality.

The 'Black Like Me' exhibition honors the beauty of black African skin and humanity. It aims to inspire dark-skinned Africans to embrace and love their own beauty without feeling pressured to conform to standards set by fair-skinned individuals. The exhibition challenges the colonial narrative that has historically promoted white skin from European descent as the ideal, leading some Africans to resort to skin bleaching in order to resemble white people.

Discrimination in our society, stemming from Apartheid and colonialism, has left a lasting legacy where whiteness is often portrayed as beautiful, while dark skin is unfairly stigmatised. 'Black Like Me' uses photography to promote the message that "Black is Beautiful." The primary aim of the exhibition is to convey a positive and inclusive message to the audience.

Approximately 7 photography pieces were exhibited at the Hugh Exton Photographic Museum. Each photo was accompanied by a unique title and held its own significance in conveying the theme 'Black Like Me'.
